Annick Tapernoux is an artist silversmith living and working in Belgium.
After undertaking silversmithing studies in Antwerp (Meester in de Beeldende Kunsten – Sint Lucas Hoger Kunstonderwijs), Annick Tapernoux graduated from the Royal College of Art in London (Master of Arts) in 1996.


Since then she has been working as an independent silversmith. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, among others: August (Los Angeles), IBU Gallery (Paris), More Upstairs (Brussels), The Cold Press (London).
Throughout her career as an artist, her main purpose has been to create forms which are forged to enhance the innate potential of the material. Thousands of hammer blows add texture to the seemingly plain surface, which is skillfully worked until its materiality dims.
At the end of the crafting process, which is interlinked with the creative process, the sensory surface reveals the true essence of the material – a cosmic, mined treasure. With their moon-like touch, her pieces seem to float, playing with balance and asymmetry. A combination of forms imbued with a serene presence, a self-contained beauty as well as life force, her work is about shedding light on fleeting emotions, fragile moments and grace, to strengthen our humanity and to be enjoyed in everyday life.
